Most issues here trace back to a permission or a device limitation, not a bug — check below before writing in.

Device requirements

  • iOS 17 or later. No Face ID, Touch ID, or other special hardware needed — every node reads a sensor already on every iPhone that runs iOS 17.
  • A working microphone, un-blocked by Screen Time / parental control restrictions, for the RESONANCE node.
  • Sound on is recommended — several nodes cue audibly.

Troubleshooting

SEVERANCE (network) won't open even with Airplane Mode on

This node checks whether any interface can actually carry traffic — not just whether Airplane Mode is flipped on. If Wi-Fi got switched back on by hand after enabling Airplane Mode, or you're connected to a network that's technically "on" but not really working, the phone can still read as connected. Turn every radio off — Wi-Fi and cellular both — and confirm there's genuinely nothing to connect to.

DEAD DROP (face-down) isn't triggering

The phone needs to be lying flat, screen down, on a real surface — held there for a full three seconds without being picked back up to check. A thick case sitting at an angle, or a soft surface that lets it tilt, can be enough to keep it from reading as fully face-down.

RESONANCE (room volume) won't respond

Endpoint Alpha needs microphone permission for this node. Check Settings → Endpoint Alpha and make sure Microphone is enabled — if you denied it the first time the app asked, iOS won't ask again automatically. Beyond that, this node is listening for something genuinely loud, close to clipping, held for about a third of a second — a quiet room won't trigger it by design.

KEYSTONE (volume keys) sequence isn't registering

The sequence is up, up, down — the actual physical volume buttons, not an on-screen control — inside a six-second window. If your phone is already at maximum volume, the first "up" press can register as no change at all; back the volume off from max before starting the sequence.

CONVERGENCE won't open

This is the last node, and it needs two conditions held true at the same time: the network fully cut, and the phone face-down. It's also only reachable after the other four nodes are already open — if it's not responding, double check SEVERANCE and DEAD DROP are each solvable on their own first.

Lost my progress after reinstalling

By design, Endpoint Alpha has no cloud save — progress lives only in the app's local storage on that specific device. Deleting the app deletes your save with it. This is intentional, not a bug (see our Privacy Policy for why).
